Hockeytown hoists Lord Stanley again…

June 05, 2008

Congratulations to the Detroit Red Wings on one hell of a season! The Winged Wheels were dominating in the regular season claiming the Presidents Trophy and were even more spectacular in the post-season.

This is the 11th Cup for the Wings the third-highest total behind only the Maple Leafs (13) and the Canadiens (23).

As for the Pens losing is extremely tough but their future is shining bright. Led by Crosby (easily the best player in the sport), Malkin (one of the worst Finals performances I have ever seen from an MVP candidate), Staal, Fleury (he is still too inconsistent for my liking), Orpik (will be a highly coveted unrestricted free-agent), Whitney and Letang the Penguins have a young and solid nucleus that will be dominating in the years to come.

After a long day of golf, pints and an entertaining Game six I am signing off.

Don’t worry though; I will have some posts to follow on the Finals and the Wings spectacular season.
