Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings have traded forward Ville Leino to Philadelphia for defenceman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen and the Flyers' fifth round pick in the 2011 draft.

Red Wings general manager Ken Holland announced the trade Saturday, before the team's road game against the Los Angeles Kings.

Carolina Hurricanes

Carolina coach Paul Maurice said he couldn't ease in goalie Justin Peters like other rookies.

But the 23-year-old Peters didn't need much assistance in his NHL debut, turning aside 34 shots to lead the Hurricanes to a 3-1 win over the New York Islanders on Saturday night.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Suddenly, hockey is a lot of fun for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Steve Mason stopped 28 shots for his third shutout of the season, and Rick Nash and Raffi Torres scored against the NHL's top penalty-killing team, leading the Blue Jackets past the Buffalo Sabres, 4-0 on Saturday night.

In their second game - and second win - since Ken Hitchcock was replaced by assistant Claude Noel on Wednesday, the Blue Jackets looked loose and dominated from end to end.

Detroit Red Wings

Detroit left wing Tomas Holmstrom has injured his left leg during the first period of the Red Wings' game against the Los Angeles Kings.

Holmstrom, a member of Sweden's Olympic team, won't return to Saturday's game, the Red Wings said.

Tampa Bay Lightning

Boston financier Jeff Vinik has agreed to buy the Tampa Bay Lightning, taking on the challenge of turning around a franchise that has struggled since winning the Stanley Cup in 2004.

Vinik is purchasing Tampa Bay Sports&Entertainment from a group led by Oren Koules and Len Barrie, the team said in a statement Friday. The deal is contingent on approval from the league's Board of Governors, which is expected in three-to-four weeks.

Minnesota Wild

Nearly three hours after his first NHL start, Anton Khudobin sat at his locker surrounded by media recounting his 38-save performance for the Minnesota Wild. All told, the 23-year-old stopped 47 of the first 48 shots he faced since making his debut two nights earlier.

Not bad for a guy who was 1-10 in his previous 11 decisions in the minors.

"I can't tell you the secret," Khudobin said.

Khudobin's 38 saves matched the most by a Wild goalie this season, and Cal Clutterbuck and Owen Nolan scored in Minnesota's 2-1 victory over Philadelphia on Saturday night.

Tampa Bay Lightning

Tampa Bay capitalized on a rare third-period letdown by Calgary.

Andrej Meszaros scored 1:58 into overtime and the Lightning beat the Flames 2-1 on Saturday night.

"It's a huge sign being able to win a game like this," said Tampa Bay right wing Martin St. Louis.

San Jose Sharks

The San Jose Sharks beat the Nashville Predators with a nifty play from three Canadian Olympic forwards.

Dany Heatley, Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton teamed up for a power-play goal at 11:57 of the third period to break a tie in the Sharks' 4-3 victory night. After Predators defenceman Dan Hamhuis was sent to the penalty box for boarding Sharks defenceman Kent Huskins 200 feet from the Nashville goal at 11:32 of the final period, Heatley, Marleau, and Thornton went to work.

Chicago Blackhawks

After dropping three consecutive games, the Chicago Blackhawks were looking to regain their swagger on Saturday.

They did just that as Jonathan Toews had a goal and an assist, Antti Niemi stopped 34 shots and the Blackhawks snapped a season-high three-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.

Ottawa Senators

It was an inglorious end to an 11-game winning streak.

The Ottawa Senators, who hadn't tasted defeat since Jan. 12, were vastly outplayed by their rival Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday night.

The Leafs entered the game in last place in the East, but had little problem shutting out Ottawa 5-0.
