Russia got a pair of goals from Evgeni Malkin to take a 4-2 win over the Czech Republic in their final preliminary game at Canada Hockey Place on Sunday.

With Czech star Jaromir Jagr serving two minutes for holding, the Russians converted on the ensuing power play to open the scoring when Pavel Datsyuk showed some keen soccer skills by kicking a loose puck to Malkin who buried it past Czech keeper Tomas Vokoun.

Team USA claimed Group A supremacy from the Canadians and collect a bye to the quarterfinals with a 5-3 victory at Canada Hockey Place on Sunday night.

Perhaps with a hint of foreshadowing, the Americans opted to wear their third jerseys – retro togs from their 1960 gold medal winning team in Squaw Valley – for the cross-border battle.
