Olympic Hype
Teemu Selanne might not make his fifth appearance at the Olympics for Finland.
The Anaheim Ducks star underwent surgery on his broken jaw Thursday in Orange, Calif. He's expected to miss between two and six weeks. Finland's first game at the Vancouver Olympics is Feb. 17 against Belarus.
A deflected shot hit Selanne's face Wednesday night against Boston.
Chicago Blackhawks
Cristobal Huet made sure the Chicago Blackhawks got a strong sendoff before a gruelling eight-game trip.
After giving up four third-period goals in his previous start, Huet posted his fourth shutout of the season Thursday night and the Blackhawks ended their two-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
"You always want to bounce back," Huet said.
Phoenix Coyotes
Phoenix Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said a little blood is worth a win anytime.
Daniel Winnik scored with 8:08 remaining as he was cut by a high stick to help the Phoenix Coyotes beat the New Jersey Devils 4-3 on Thursday night.
NHL Hype
Former NHL star Theoren Fleury says he has filed a criminal complaint against Graham James, his former junior hockey coach.
He says no criminal charges have yet been laid and the Winnipeg police investigation is ongoing.
Fleury alleges he was sexually abused by James when he was a young player.
Montreal Canadiens
Brian Gionta and the Montreal Canadiens dealt the Dallas Stars their ninth straight road loss in a game marked by milestones, streaks and the heavy shadow of a natural disaster that hit close to home for two hockey players of Haitian descent.
Gionta scored twice in his 500th NHL game and Georges Laraque got his first goal in more than 21 months to send Montreal to a 5-3 win over the struggling Stars on Thursday night.
Toronto Maple Leafs
It was a moment Tyler Bozak will never forget. And it was a reminder during tough times that better things might lie ahead for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Bozak earned a spot on the highlight reels with his first NHL goal Thursday night and sparked the Maple Leafs to a 4-0 victory over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers.
Ottawa Senators
Mike Brodeur is a distant relative of likely hall of famer Martin Brodeur. His shutout performance at Madison Square Garden was all in the family.
Hours after being called up from Binghamton of the AHL, Mike Brodeur outlasted New York's Henrik Lundqvist in the Ottawa Senators' 2-0 victory over the Rangers on Thursday night. Chris Campoli broke up the scoreless game with 1:14 remaining for the Senators, who snapped a five-game losing streak.
